Papillon Playgroup opened in September 2005 to provide quality pre-school care and education to the children of Royston and the surrounding area.

We are based in the Masonic Hall, Jepps Lane, in Royston town centre, with convenient access to the Priory Gardens where we conduct our outside play activities during the summer months. Since September 2011 our new setting, Papillon Tannery, has been open at Tannery Drift First School; offering families in and around Royston a greater choice for early years child care.

We cater for children from 2 years to nursery or reception age.

We offer a full range of activites that cover the 6 areas laid out in the Early Years Foundation Stage by the Department of Education.

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Communication, Language & Literacy
• Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Physical Development
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Creative Development

None of these areas of learning and development can be delivered in isolation from the others. They are equally important and depend on each other to support a rounded approach to child development.

In addition to this, we strongly adhere to the EYFS principles which guide the work of early years practitioners, namely:-

• Learning and Development

To ensure we meet the highest standards for childcare, we are also working towards the new Hertfordshire Quality Standards Certificate. This is a scheme run by Young in Herts to complement the Ofsted standards, and which enables us to ensure we continue to develop and improve our standard of care and education.

Our staff are all qualified professionals, however we encourage and support all members of staff towards furthering their education and qualifications, to ensure that we are able to maintain the highest standards of care for your child.

We have a full range of policies available

• Admissions, Settling In, Safeguarding Children, Behaviour Management, Confidentiality, Equality and Diversity, Special Needs, Complaints, Lost Left or Abducted Child, Fire, Health & Safety.

All of our policies are available to see at our premises during session times.
